Our Purpose
COGSY Inc. is a locally governed, not-for-profit association founded in Gladstone to create practical pathways into work. We deliver pre-employment training, mentoring, and site-ready skills so young people can start—and stay—in meaningful jobs.
COGSY promotes youth skills development, employment, and wellbeing in the Gladstone Region. We equip young people with life, work, and business skills and encourage teamwork to build their capacity for the future.
Empowering Gladstone’s Youth for Local Careers
COGSY (Communities of Gladstone Supporting Youth) connects young people and families with real opportunities through training, mentoring, and local employment pathways across Central Queensland.
Founded in Gladstone and supported by High Risk Solutions, COGSY is a community-driven organisation helping young people gain the confidence, skills, and site readiness they need to enter the workforce.
We collaborate with local industry, training providers, and Indigenous networks to deliver practical, hands-on programs that prepare participants for meaningful employment and long-term success.
Every program we run is designed to support inclusion, strengthen local capability, and contribute to the region’s ongoing growth — creating a stronger, more skilled, and connected Gladstone community.
Our Programs
Gear Shift
Gear Shift is a pilot 8-week pre-vocational immersion program delivered by Communities of Gladstone Supporting Youth (COGSY) in collaboration with Gladstone State High School. Hosted at a live industrial site.
Beneficiaries: School kids
Industry Courses
This program provides targeted entry-level training, nationally recognised industry tickets, and site safety foundations to equip participants for success in real-world roles.
Beneficiaries: Young adults aged 18–24 who are ready to launch a career in the Gladstone industrial sector
Waste Aid
Waste Aid is all about training our COGSY Kids — and the wider community — to rethink waste. Our mission is to reduce our throw-away culture by transforming industrial offcuts into practical, creative, and marketable products.
